“Dead” really is a relative term when it comes to trade talks in the NFL. ... Nobody in the Giants organization thinks there’s any life to the Edwards talks. Nobody expects him to be a Giant by the end of the day. And nothing has changed since they first talked in February. ... But don’t be shocked if Giants GM Jerry Reese tries anyway.

Daily News staffer Ralph Vacchiano frames it like this: "The Giants won’t offer more than a 2 and a 5. The Browns, as far as anyone knows, still want at least a 1. ..." In other words, a deal remains unlikely. But Vacchiano went on to advise readers there are some people in the NFL who believe the Browns will trade Edwards today, no matter what they get for him (Sirius NFL Radio’s Gil Brandt, for example, said there’s a “100 percent” chance Edwards becomes an ex-Brown today). So maybe the Brown blink and take the best offer he has on the table. We shall see.
