Denver cut Hackney on Monday. He had been a backup and practice squad player for Denver. His release comes four days after Denver traded Pro Bowl QB Jay Cutler to Chicago. Cutler's primary backup, Patrick Ramsey, signed with Tennessee last week after Denver did not pursue bringing him back.
