Evans, who has been a steady presence for the Patriots over the last three-plus seasons, agreed to terms on a deal with the New Orleans Saints today. Evans' contract is a two-year pact, the Saints announced.

Typically the fullback on the occasion ther Pats used one, particularly in goal-line situations, Evans also carried the ball once in a while and can catch a little too. The Saints cited that versatility -- as well as Evans' special teams skills -- as reasons for his signing. According to ESPN.com's Pat Yasinskas, the Saints plan to cut starting fullback Mike Karney.
