The Facts:
Ward's representatives will meet with the Giants brass next week, a league source has said, to discuss the possibility of him returning to the Giants' backfield.

Ward and Brandon Jacobs, who each ran for over 1,000 yards last season, are both scheduled to become free agents in about three weeks and eight hours. Last week, at the Super Bowl, Jacobs said he expected to be back in Blue next year. "It will work itself out," the running back said. "I plan on being back. I can't imagine it not working out." It's unlikely that the Giants will keep both backs, but it has not been ruled out. As Newsday staffer Tom Rock suggests, Ward's chances of playing for the Giants in 2009 are still pretty slim, but the team isn't going to let a 1,000-yard running back walk away without at least taking a swing.
