Upset over losing his starting job, James apparently wants out of Arizona. James has asked the team -- through his agent Drew Rosenhaus -- for his release.

Not surprisingly, the Cardinals aren't interested in releasing him. ... For now. James was benched in favor of rookie Tim Hightower and has just three carries in the three games since the change. With a $5 million salary next year, James' chances of remaining a Cardinal beyond this season are almost nonexistant. But with the playoffs looming, team officials obviously see the need for depth.
