HC Bill Belichick told his team that Brady's left knee injury could be bad and to prepare for Matt Cassel to be the QB going forward, an NFL source told the Globe's Christopher L. Gasper tonight. The source could not confirm the Yahoo! Sports report of a torn ACL. WBZ-TV in Boston also confirmed that Brady has an ACL tear. The NFL Network is also reporting that Brady is out for the season with a serious knee injury. Reported by the Boston Globe

The Globe can not confirm those reports at this time, however, the paper cites multiple sources saying they are not expecting good news when the QB undergoes further tests on Monday and the Patriots are bracing for the likelihood he will miss the season. Gasper also confirms the Patriots are hosting free-agent QB Chris Simms on a visit Monday. And ESPN's Chris Mortensen reported that the team will also bring in free agent quarterback Tim Rattay, an eight-year veteran who played last season with the Cardinals.
