Manning's return to the practice field Tuesday was business as usual and the quarterback is experiencing no residual pain Wednesday, HC Tony Dungy reported early this afternoon. "He actually did well," Dungy said. "So far, so good."

Dungy told reporters that Manning participated in individual and ball-handling drills Tuesday but was held out of 11-on-11 "team" work. The important thing, the coach said, was that Manning had no problems with his left knee today after Tuesday's work. Manning might be in uniform for Thursday night's pre-season finale against Cincinnati in Lucas Oil Stadium, but he all but certainly won't play. He said Tuesday that he planned to be ready for the Colts' Sept. 7 regular-season opener against the Chicago Bears.
