The Facts:
Burress' injured ankle is improving, HC Tom Coughlin said yesterday, and both the coach and the receiver would like to have him back on the field before the team leaves Albany next weekend. "They think he is [making progress] and he's excited about it," Coughlin said of the medical staff's assessment of Burress' ankle injury, which has kept him from practicing since camp opened 2 1/2 weeks ago. "I think his running has increased and hopefully we'll get something done here."

According to Newsday staffer Tom Rock, Burress has been wearing specially made shoes with orthotics both on and off the field for about a week. Coughlin said he spoke with Burress and went over the team's schedule, noting that it would be a shame for him to spend all of the time in Albany without taking the field. "I'm hoping," Coughlin said.
