Packers Issue Statement On Meeting With Brett Favre
(7/30 8:36 PT)

The Facts:
Following up on the ongoing saga. ... Late Wednesday, the Packers released a statement from president and CEO Mark Murphy which shed little light on the stalemate between the team and the league's only three-time MVP. "I was in Hattiesburg today and had a nice visit with Brett Favre. We discussed a number of topics not related to football, including Brett's long-term relationship with the Packers," Murphy said in a statement. "I consider our conversation to be confidential and am going to be respectful of Brett and his family and keep the details private." Reported by The Sports Ticker

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
According to the Green Bay Press-Gazette, Favre spent about 3 1/2 hours in the meeting with Murphy and agent James "Bus" Cook before departing; Murphy and Cook continued to talk for some time after the QB left. Cook subsequently told ESPN it's highly unlikely Favre will be quarterbacking the Packers this season. "He would love to go back to Green Bay," Cook said. "Right now, it looks like he'll be the quarterback at Oak Grove High School (where Favre has been working out). ..." It is safe to say we'll have more on this one in coming days.
