Devin Hester Willing To Sit Out As Long As It Takes
(7/23 10:43 PT)

The Facts:
With news of his absence from training camp blaring from a sports talk station in the background, Hester said he's prepared to dig in for the long haul. As in the entire 2008 season. "It's time for me to take a stand. We're going to stand by our decision to do this, and we feel like this can go down to whenever in the season or the end of the season," Hester said. "No matter what." Reported by the Chicago Sun-Times

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
Hester signed a four-year, $2.88 million contract as a second-round draft pick in 2006. He's scheduled to earn $445,000 this season and $530,000 in 2009. ... As Sun-Times staffer Brad Biggs notes, Hester is subject to daily fines of $15,000, but the greatest impact of his absence will be on his work at receiver -- which is how he'll eventually command the big money he's seeking. Hester would have broken the huddle with the first team at wide receiver had he been on hand for Wednesday's practice.
