Increasing Optimism About Peyton Manning
(7/15 4:11 PT)

The Facts:
Following up on a previous item. ... According to ESPN insider John Clayton, team officials expect Manning to be ready sooner than the 4-6 week timeframe suggested in their initial statement on Monday's procedure to clean out an infected bursa sac in the QB's knee. The new number being floated is three weeks. Reported by FootballDiehards.com

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
Whether he's ready to go in three weeks or it takes six, Manning isn't going to be very active in terms of pre-season action this summer. One other note of interest, after suggesting last night the procedure might place Manning's Week 1 status in question, Indianapolis Star beat writer Mike Chappell is taking a more optimistic tack in his reporting today. Bottom line: Barring unforeseen complications, the knee won't be an issue come September. Draft accordingly.
