Irby ruled out the possibility that Garrard would be a holdout if he doesn't get a new deal. He said Garrard plans to play this fall regardless and wants to stay with the Jaguars. "I think we can get it done. It's not something that's insurmountable. They can do the deal. Both sides want to get it done," Irby added. ... If the two sides can't agree, Garrard would play out the final year of his current contract at just under $2 million and then become a free agent. The Jaguars would then have the option of slapping the franchise tag on him, which costs $10.7 million this year and will likely go up.
