Adam Schefter of the NFL Network reports tonight that the Patriots and Gaffney have agreed to a one-year, $2 million contract.

While Randy Moss' brief fling with free agency drew most of the attention, Gaffney's availability was widely overlooked. But with Donte' Stallworth signing in Cleveland on Saturday, retaining Gaffney could turn out to be a key move. As part of a receiving corps that included Moss, Stallworth and Wes Welker, Gaffney proved to be a valuable weapon down the stretch, catching 21 passes for 307 yards and four touchdowns over the final six games.
