Isaac Bruce Signs 2-Year Deal With 49ers
(2/29 5:55 PT)

The Facts:
The 49ers have signed Bruce to a two-year deal, according to Adam Schefter of NFL Network. The move reunites Bruce with Mike Martz, who was the Rams' offensive coordinator for their only Super Bowl win and thereafter the head coach for six seasons. Reported by Profootballtalk.com

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
No real surprise here. ... As suggested in Thursday's Roster-Move Roundup, Bruce made a beeline for San Francisco. Santa Rosa Press-Democrat beat writer Matt Maiocco reports that Bruce was the only receiver the 49ers were pursuing. GM Scot McCloughan said Thursday that there is a dearth of No. 1 receivers in free agency, and that is a position that is not a lot of value for the buck. Adding to their concerns, Martz' offense is complex, especially for receivers. Bruce would be the only receiver with prior knowledge of the system. Oh yeah. ... He also happens to rank No. 3 all time in NFL receiving yards behind Jerry Rice and Tim Brown.
