Volek shopped around and decided to stay where he was comfortable and there was a chance to win it all. "This is a great team," Volek said Friday, minutes after signing a three-year deal to remain the Chargers' backup QB.

Volek had a chance for more money and more playing time with some of the other teams his agent spoke with. But Chicago, Minnesota, Oakland and Buffalo apparently didn't have what San Diego offers. "It's fun to go to work," Volek said. It's also fun to get paid. Profootballtalk.com's Mike Florio reports that Volek's deal is worth $9 million with a $3 million signing bonus.
