Following up on the previous item. ... For four minutes, the Green Bay Packers' web site listed a "Favre to Retire" page saying the Packers quarterback of 17 years was calling it a career. A Packers spokesman tells Newsradio 620 WTMJ the posting should give fans no reason to believe it's actually going to happen. "There's nothing to it," says Packers Public Relations Director Jeff Blumb. He stated they prepare this story every year, just in case he does retire.

Blumb also stated the team had the same story last year, and he chose to return. They also create stories to prepare for his return, should he decide to do so. It's a plausible response. It's also worth noting that Favre's agent, James "Bus" Cook, told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel his client hasn't made a decision one way or the other yet. ... But none of that will stop what's going to be an intense day or two of coverage. Stand by for more Favre-related fun.
