Colt McCoy's Future In Cleveland Remains Uncertain
(4/29 12:33 PT)

The Facts:
Following up on the ongoing story. ... The Browns' decision to draft Brandon Weeden with the 22nd overall selection has naturally led to a lot of talk about McCoy. HC Pat Shurmur addressed some of those topics, including the report that the team told McCoy that they wouldn't draft a quarterback in the first round. Shurmur said that report was "absolutely false." Reported by Profootballtalk.com

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
"For the record, we don't consult our players about what we're doing in the draft," Shurmur said, via Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain-Dealer. "I think it's ridiculous to assume that we would say those things. I just want to be strong about the no. ..." So what's next for McCoy? Shurmur was coy on the subject, and team president Mike Holmgren was similarly vague during a news conference Saturday. "I like him a lot," Holmgren said of McCoy. "He's tough, but (we) still wanted to see if someone else could be the man." As NFL.com suggested, those have to be stinging words for McCoy, whose time in Cleveland clearly is up despite never receiving the help on offense that Weeden receives as he walks in the door with Trent Richardson. ... Stay tuned.
