A league source tells PFT the Saints and Colston are working feverishly toward finalizing a new contract before Colston becomes a free agent at 4:00 p.m. ET on Tuesday. Colston, we're told, badly wants to remain a Saint.

In six NFL seasons, Colston has 449 receptions for 6,240 yards and 48 touchdowns. He entered the league as a seventh-round pick in 2006. It's not hard to find observers out there who believe Colston's best chance of continued production lies with the Saints, where Drew Brees and an array of other receiving options make him more dangerous than he might be under other circumstances -- for instance, were he asked to play a lead role in the receiving corps. Nonetheless, recent reports have indicated Colston will be of interest in Washington and Chicago. ... Stay tuned.
