So wrote Chronicle staffer John McClain who has insisted all along that Manning isn't of interest in Houston. Per McClain, the Texans remain committed to Matt Schaub, who is ahead of schedule on rehab from foot surgery. They think they have a good thing going right now. They're trying to keep as much of their team together as they can. They won't be big players in the free agent market as they were last year. So, as McClain summed up: "Manning may end up in the AFC and he may end up in the AFC South, but it won't be with the Texans. ..." Stay tuned. More conflicting reports are certain to come.
