Report: Steelers Willing To Let Mike Wallace Test The Market
(2/21 9:49 PT)

The Facts:
The Steelers are willing to have Wallace test the market, and if indeed he signs a contract and they deem it too high, they'll take a first-round draft choice in return and have two first-round picks for only the second time since the 1970s NFL merger (the other was 1989).g. Reported by the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
In case you missed it,Wallace becomes a restricted free agent in three weeks, and as Profootballtalk.com's Michael David Smith notes, he does so in the first year of the new rules for restricted free agents: A team that wants to sign Wallace away from the Steelers would now only have to forfeit a first-round pick to Pittsburgh, whereas in the past, signing Wallace away would have cost a first-round pick and a third-round pick. That being the case, the cash-strapped Steelers may be painted into a corner where they just won’t be able to match a lucrative offer that some other team gives to Wallace. In addition to having immediate salary cap issues, the Steelers are also in a tough spot because they know they’re going to face the same situation again next year when another receiver, Antonio Brown, also becomes a restricted free agent (along with fellow wideout Emmanuel Sanders). ... According to Smith, the Patriots and Ravens have both been mentioned as teams that might be interested in signing Wallace. ... Stay tuned. This one definitely bears watchin
