The Facts:
The Seahawks are deep in talks with Lynch on a long-term deal, which could well be completed before the March 5 deadline. If that somehow falls apart, the Seahawks are prepared to tag Lynch, according to a source with knowledge of the situation.

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
And why wouldn't they? With the 2012 franchise number for RBs a reasonable $7.7 million (down from $9.6 million last year), it makes sense for teams like the Seahawks, Ravens (with Ray Rice) and Bears (with Matt Forte) to pass on longer-term, bigger money deals in favor of the franchise price without assuming the risk that goes along with the guaranteed money included in the lengthier deals. ... Whatever the case, it's safe to say Lynch will remain a Seahawk for at least one more season. And if he continues to put up numbers like he did last season -- and he does so under the franchise tag -- the Seahawks will get a bargain.
