Martz contacted NFL Network insider Jason La Canfora on Monday to confirm that he is ending his distinguished coaching career in order to focus on other opportunities. Martz, a former head coach and long-time offensive coordinator, won a Super Bowl with the St. Louis Rams as an offensive coordinator. He is famous for his innovative schemes and for orchestrating "The Greatest Show on Turf" offense while in St. Louis. Martz spent the past two seasons running Chicago's offense -- reaching the NFC Championship Game in 2010. Martz turned down a contract extension earlier in 2011 and resigned from the Bears following the season, citing "philosophical differences." In five years as the Rams' head coach, Martz compiled a 53-32 record.
