HC John Harbaugh said the team will look to bring in another big FB this offseason regardless of what happens with McClain. Maybe the reason is the Ravens are contemplating re-signing McClain and using him more as a backup RB. “Le’Ron is probably going evolve his role as a runner in the NFL,” Harbaugh said.

McClain, who will be a free agent when a new CBA is in place, led the Ravens in rushing in 2008, gaining 902 yards and scoring 10 touchdowns when Lorenzo Neal was the primary FB. And as Sun staffer Jaimson Hensley notes, the Ravens likely will need a backup RB because the team is expected to release or trade Willis McGahee, who is scheduled to make $6 million in 2011. ... McClain’s carries have decreased the past two years. He ran for 85 yards on 28 carries last season. Hensley went on to suggest that at 260 pounds, McClain would be the physical runner who would complement starter Ray Rice.
