The Facts:
Colts owner Jim Irsay expressed confidence that a blockbuster contract with Manning will ultimately get hammered out. However, he's surprised that it's not already done and said people should ask Condon's agent, NFL power broker Tom Condon, why the contract isn't already done. "It should get done," Irsay told National Football Post. "I think it should have gotten done before all this. It takes two to tango. So, you would have to probably ask Tom Condon and get any feedback from him. It should get done and it will get done."

During the NFL scouting combine, Condon told the Associated Press that they aren't close to a deal. ... Manning has been assigned a $23 million exclusive franchise tag. Irsay said there's plenty of motivation on both sides to work something out. Irsay added: "I just think that when you look at all the components on why, they all point to getting something done in terms of us being told it's not about money, it's about winning and him being willing to leave money for other players on the table, the legacy in Indianapolis and the history, the relationship with the team and Jim Caldwell, the really good support that Bill Polian and Chris Polian give. All those sort of things are there and it should get done, but it's one of those things I thought it would have gotten done already, but these things get done when they're ready to. ..." And now, of course, it can't get done until the CBA is resolved.
