The previous deadline was tonight at midnight eastern time. The extension, short though it may be, suggests at the very least that the two sides are making sufficient progress to believe it's worth their while to spend another day negotiating. This after ESPN's Chris Mortensen reports the league put an offer on the table today that was much better than the players expected. ... Stay tuned. We'll have more details in coming hours.
