The Facts:
Following up on a previous item. ... Hardesty is excited about new coach Pat Shurmur and his West Coast offense, similar to the one Hardesty ran at the University of Tennessee under Lane Kiffin in 2009. "The terminology and the scheme are very similar to what I learned under coach Kiffin, so hopefully it won't be too much of a learning curve for me," said Hardesty, who's making great progress in rehab from a torn left anterior cruciate ligament.

Hardesty, who's rehabbing at the Browns' facility in Berea, has gotten to know Shurmur well since he was hired Jan. 13. "We had a long conversation when we first met, and I bump into coach Shurmur every day in Berea, and we talk a little," said Hardesty. "I've been one of the only guys that's been out in Berea because of my rehab, so it's given me a chance to get to know him. ..." Meanwhile, Hardesty, who suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament in the preseason finale Sept. 2, is running, cutting, lifting and is on pace to participate in organized team activities in May if the labor agreement is in place. "I'll be cleared to play football in a couple of months, so by May, I'll be ready to practice," he said. "However they want to work me back in is fine with me. ..." Hardesty headed into last season as the starter. This year, he'll come in behind Peyton Hillis, who rushed for 1,177 yards and 11 TDs last year. "I'm not worried at all about who's going to start," he said. "I'm just going to go in and work hard, and all of that will work itself out."
