This Just In! C.J. Spiller's Rookie Season A Disappointment
(2/24 8:29 PT)

The Facts:
In the wake of an extremely disappointing rookie season for Spiller, HC Chan Gailey acknowledged that things definitely didn't go the way he had envisioned for the speedster from Clemson. "It didn't work out like everybody planned," Gailey said at the NFL scouting combine. "He planned. I planned. Any fan out there planned. It didn't work out like any of us planned." Reported by The National Football Post

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
You don't say. .... Spiller rushed for only 283 yards and no touchdowns in 14 games and one start last season after being drafted in the first round. He averaged only 3.8 yards per carry. His longest run was just 20 yards, which was surprising given how much of a breakaway threat he was in college and given his track star background. Spiller caught 24 passes for 157 yards with one touchdown. And he fumbled five times, losing three. Still, the coach is optimistic. "I think I'll do a better job next year of incorporating him," Gailey said. "And he's got to get better at ball security and pass protection. Those are two areas where he has to get better. I'm not telling you anything we haven't told him. ... He's still going to be very productive in this league for a long time. ..." While anything is possible, we certainly need to see more before we get too excited about Spiller's chances of turning things around.
