The Facts:
With McNabb destined to be gone from D.C. and hopeful to leave sooner rather than later, his agent finally has met with HC Mike Shanahan regarding the situation. “I did talk to Fletcher Smith yesterday,” Shanahan tells Larry Michael, via Matt Terl of Redskins.com. “Had a great conversation with him. And, you know, I can’t go through the details, but it’s been talked about, and we’ll let the process take care of itself.”

As PFT's Mike Florio suggests, the “process” will “take care of itself” only when the Redskins cut or trade McNabb. Florio went on to explain that based on the agreement to which McNabb agreed last season, he gave the Redskins in exchange for a $3.5 million signing bonus the ability to squat on his rights throughout the offseason, since the trigger for McNabb’s $10 million option bonus runs from the first day of the league year until the first day after the first regular-season game. Florio expects the Redskins to try to trade McNabb in the hopes of recovering the second-round and fourth-round picks that were invested in one failed season with the former Eagle. But that won't be easy with the rest of the league already aware of the ultimate outcome/
