Aaron Rodgers Credits Hi-Tech Helmet For Avoiding Concussion
(1/25 12:44 PT)

The Facts:
Some pundits have speculated that Rodgers suffered a concussion from the helmet-to-helmet hit he took from Bear's DE Julius Peppers early in the fourth quarter of the NFC Championship game. Rodgers' play seemed to tail off after the hit, which drew a 15-yard penalty for unnecessary roughness. But Rodgers told Peter King of SI.com that he was saved from serious injury because he has changed to one of the new, high-tech helmets the league has been touting. Reported by the Redzone.org

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
"That was lucky," Rodgers told King. "As much as the new helmet feels uncomfortable and I'm still getting used to it, I'm really happy I was wearing it on that hit." Rodgers believes he would have suffered his third concussion of the season without the special helmet. ... For what it's worth, Rodgers said he wasn't woozy at all after the game, and he looked fine. HC Mike McCarthy did say he had a sore throwing shoulder, from his one-yard touchdown run on the first series of the game, but it didn't sound as if McCarthy or Rodgers felt it would limit anything the Packers will do against Pittsburgh in 12 days.
