Raiders Confirm Coaching Search Is On
(1/11 12:8 PT)

The Facts:
The Raiders confirmed they’ve begun the search for a new head coach Monday, giving little else in the way of information. “We have begun the interview process,” senior executive John Herrera told beat writer Steve Corkran, adding that the club would not be providing the names of candidates whether they be in-house or from another team. Reported by the Oakland Tribune

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
The logical first interview subject is offensive coordinator Hue Jackson, already under contract and widely considered the heavy favorite to succeed Tom Cable. ... The Raiders announced they weren’t renewing Cable’s option six days ago, the same day they granted permission for Jackson to interview with the San Francisco 49ers. Jackson’s name has not surfaced as a candidate as yet for openings in Denver and Cleveland. San Diego DC Ron Rivera is believed to be the frontrunner to be hired in Carolina. Raiders owner Al Davis interviewed Jackson extensively last year when he was hired to be the Raiders’ OC and play-caller for Cable.
