According to San Diego Union-Tribune staffer Kevin Acee, it's official. Gates won't play against the Denver Broncos tonight.

Gates was officially listed as questionable but hasn't practiced all week due to a nagging turf toe injury on one foot and a much more painful issue with the plantar fascia on the other foot. The Chargers are also expected to be without Ryan Mathews (ankle) and Legedu Naanee (hamstring), both of whom are listed as doubtful. ... Stay tuned. We'll post the official inactive list for both teams upon release.
