According to ESPN insider Adam Schefter, the Buccaneers announced today that they have released Stevens and promoted TE Ryan Purvis to the active roster. Reported by FootballDiehards.com

No real surprise. Stevens was arrested in Tampa on Saturday and charged with possession of cannabis with intent to sell (felony), possession of cannabis (felony) and possession of drug paraphernalia (misdemeanor). This isn't Stevens' first brush with the law and it wouldn't be a reach to suggest his NFL career has effectively come to an end.
