As ESPN insider Adam Schefter reported, there will be no trade for WR Vincent Jackson today, despite the fact that one team, presumably Minnesota, tried hard to get it done.

The 4 p.m. eastern time deadline to get a deal done in time for Jackson to get on the field by Week 5 passed and it's hard to imagine a team being willing to deal for him knowing the star wideout will miss half the season. ... As for the Vikings, Yahoo! Sports' Jason Cole reports that Minnesota offered a second-round pick and a conditional pick in 2011, but the Chargers wanted a second- and third-round pick for 2011. That was more than the Vikings were willing to give up.
