Muhsin Muhammad Officially Retires

The Facts:
Muhammad has retired from the NFL after spending 11 of his 14 seasons with the Carolina Panthers. The 37-year-old receiver announcec his retirement at a news conference Thursday. The decision comes after the Panthers didn’t re-sign him in the offseason. Reported by the Associated Press

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
Muhammad was Carolina’s second-round pick in 1996 and made the Pro Bowl three years later. The receiver later served as a complement to Steve Smith on Carolina’s Super Bowl team in the 2003 season.Muhammad signed as a free agent with Chicago in 2005 and spent three years with the Bears before re-signing with Carolina before the 2008 season. Rookie Brandon LaFell appears to be the leading candidate to replace Muhammad as the starter opposite Steve Smith.
