Pierre Thomas Not On Hand For OTAs
(5/27 1:18 PT)

The Facts:
Thomas, a restricted free agent who has yet to sign his one-year qualifying offer from teh Saints, has not been participating during the first week of organized team activities (OTAs). Thomas, who signed an injury protection clause allowing him to take part, hopes to work out a long-term contract with the club. Reported by the New Orleans Times-Picayune

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
It's not clear how long Thomas plans to stay away from the practice field. So far, all of the team activities have been voluntary. The June 4-6 minicamp is the first mandatory team activity. The Times-Picayune also notes that Thomas' absence might have nothing to do with his contract talks. Last week his cousin Eric was shot in Chicago, and Thomas had tweeted that he was in Chicago visiting him in the hospital. But Thomas apparently has not asked for an excused absence from OTAs. Earlier this offseason, Thomas said he didn't plan to skip any team activities during the contract talks, saying, "I'm going to show up, just because that's my attitude and my personality." Stay tuned. It's unclear if and why Thomas' approach has changed.
