Meachem will miss the remainder of the team’s offseason workouts after undergoing surgery to repair torn cartilage on the second toe of his left foot. "It's just a nick," Meachem said Saturday at the team’s practice facility as he walked with the aid of crutches and a boot on his left foot.

Meachem initially sustained the injury late last season, HC Sean Payton said Monday. The decision to operate last week was made after Meachem continued to experience pain during the early weeks of the team’s off-season program. "It's going to set him back," Payton said. "Our goal is to get him back in time for the start of training camp (July 29), the first week or so. ..." Meachem, the team’s No. 1 pick in 2007, caught 45 passes for 722 yards and nine touchdowns during the regular season and another four catches for 25 yards in the postseason. His status will clearly be worth watching as training camp draws near.
