Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
As Comcast's Matt Maiocco notes, while a contract that averages $8 million a year is considered high, it is a reasonable enough starting point for the sides to continue their discussions. But Maiocco wonders if the 49ers, among the lower-revenue teams in the NFL, can afford to pay Davis so soon after LB Patrick Willis was awarded a five-year, $50 million extension? We wonder if they can afford not to pay him. Remember: Davis Davis tied Antonio Gates’ tight-ends record with 13 touchdown caches last season while recording a team-high 78 receptions for 965 yards.
