The Facts:
GM Mike Tannenbaum made it pretty clear Friday that he wants Edwards to spend the majority of his offseason at team headquarters working with the Jets. "With Braylon this is going to be a really important offseason for him in terms of being more acclimated with our offense and working with Mark (Sanchez) every day," Tannenbaum said at the NFL scouting combine.

As Daily News staffer Rich Cimini notes, Tannenbaum can't order the wide receiver to be at every voluntary workout, but this was the GM essentially telling Edwards to stick around this spring. Tannenbaum wants to see him at the practice facility in hopes of limiting the number of drops the receiver had this past season. He wants Edwards to be around even when he can't work on routes with Sanchez, who is recovering from knee surgery, is expected to be ready for the start of training camp in July. For what it's worth, Tannenbaum, who is expected to tender a one-year offer to Edwards that would pay the restricted free agent the required $5.5 million, said he plans to speak to Edwards' agent to relay his desire for the receiver to work out with the team.
