Jeremy Bates spoke Tuesday for the first time since arriving from Southern California last month. And while he's pleased with his skill players, Bates said he "won't get into what route we're going" at left tackle. ... Team officials have traded messages with six-time All-Pro Walter Jones, but they have yet to confirm what 36-year old's plans are for 2010. Remember: Ongoing knee issues have kept Jones from playing since Nov. 27, 2008 and he appeared to unofficially announce his retirement (via Twitter) on Sunday.
