The Facts:
Peterson has rushed for more yards than any NFL RB the past three seasons. He has also fumbled more times, and that has become a major problem. "I don't have my head in the sand saying there's not an issue," HC Brad Childress said Tuesday. "He needs to hold on to it, but I'm sure he and [running backs coach Eric Bieniemy] and our offensive staff will do a good job of kind of troubleshooting that and seeing what we can come up with."

Peterson has rushed for 4,484 yards but fumbled 20 times in three regular seasons, losing 13 of them. He had a critical fumble in overtime in a loss at Chicago on Dec. 28. His fumbles against the Saints last Sunday overshadowed his 122 yards rushing and three touchdowns. Peterson and the Vikings often have attributed the fumbles to his physical running style and his willingness to fight for extra yards. That might be true, but it doesn't hide the fact that it's become a problem that cost the Vikings late in the season. Sounds like one they'll be working on this offseason.
