ESPN's Chris Mortensen offered up what appears to be a prediction during the Tuesday morning SportsCenter marathon. "I think [Commissioner Roger] Goodell will make a decision some time shortly, within the next week," Mortensen said. "And he will suspend Burress for a year."

Burress is facing felony weapons charges in New York arising from a November 2008 self-shooting incident. In 2007, Goodell suspended Mike Vick indefinitely after he was indicted on federal conspiracy charges relating to gambling and dogfighting. Browns WR Donte' Stallworth was suspended for a year after being convicted of DUI manslaughter charges this year. While nobody could argue Burress' crime reaches the mangnitude of either example, the commmissioner's history is clear. ... Stay tuned. Sounds like we'll have more on this in coming days.
