The Facts:
The Cardinals are at least several weeks away from having substantive talks with the agent for Boldin about a contract extension, General Manager Rod Graves said. Graves declined to discuss specifics, but it's known he and Tom Condon, Boldin's new agent, had preliminary talks this spring.

As republic staffer Kent Somers pointed out, Graves traditionally has refrained from negotiating contract extensions until the regular season is well under way. By doing that, he can see the makeup of the final roster and take care of personnel moves necessitated by injuries. Meanwhile, as Profootballtalk.com's Mike Florio suggested this morning, it remains to be seen whether Boldin will behave.
