The Facts:
Following up on the ongoing story. ... Favre's agent denied another report Tuesday evening that the quarterback has agreed to a contract with the Vikings. Two days after Profootballtalk.com reported that a deal was in place and that the team had approved the production of Favre jerseys, WCCO-TV provided a similar report with a few minor differences, namely that the quarterback's contract includes "heavy incentives." Asked in an e-mail if there was any truth to the WCCO report, agent Bus Cook wrote one word: "Nope."

In case you missed it, the denial is similar to the one Cook issued when PFT first reported on the story. But while PFT stressed their reporting was merely a rumor, longtime WCCO sports anchor Mark Rosen reported that Favre would be at training camp, barring a "major physical setback." Meanwhile, as Pioneer Press staffer Sean Jensen notes, that Favre will become a Viking is considered a given, with the only potential obstacle being his surgically repaired biceps tendon. With HC Brad Childress on vacation in Alaska, nobody believes and announcement is imminent. Stay tuned.
