Schmitt was arrested Saturday on suspicion of drunken driving in Black Diamond. Schmitt, 24, was pulled over by Black Diamond police around midnight for speeding. He was subsequently arrested for drunken driving after his blood-alcohol content was measured at .151 and .161, according to State Patrol records. The legal limit in Washington is .08. Arraignment is scheduled for July 8.

A written statement from Schmitt was released Thursday morning by the Seahawks. "I sincerely apologize to the team, the NFL, the fans and my family and friends for my actions and my poor judgment," Schmitt said. ... Assuming he avoids league discipline, Schmitt is expected to be Seattle's starting fullback in 2009 after the departure of Leonard Weaver, who signed with Philadelphia as a free agent in March.
