The Facts:
The following statement was released by the Cleveland Browns on Monday afternoon: "Contrary to published reports this morning, no one from the current Browns organization, including Owner Randy Lerner, has ever made any promises to Josh Cribbs with regard to his contract status."

As noted in a previous item, Cribbs certainly believes the owner made such a promise. Others do to. According to Profootballtalk.com's Mike Florio, an unnamed source suggested an additional sentence be added to the Browns' statement: "Nor has anyone from the Cleveland Browns ever told the truth about this issue. ..." For what it's worth, Florio believes new GM George Kokinis is taking the position that the "current" regime should not be bound by the promises of the former regime.
