The health of Favre's right arm -- he has a tear in the biceps tendon -- likely will be the determining factor. Sources said Favre had a significant tear in the tendon, if not a complete tear.

According to Journal-Sentinel staffer Greg A. Bedard, the tear has not improved much in the past three months. It's a painful injury but a player can play with it. Or Favre could still opt to have arthroscopic surgery, which could have him healthy by the time training camp opens in late July. ... In case you missed it, ESPN's Ed Werder reported Tuesday that Favre would meet later this week with Vikings HC Brad Childress. Werder suggests there is a mutual understanding between Favre and the Vikings that he will give them a decision soon after the meeting (although FOXSports.com insider Jay Glazer believes the process isn't that advanced). ...
