The Detroit Lions have denied published reports that the franchise has a deal done that would make quarterback Matthew Stafford the No. 1 pick during this weekend’s NFL draft.

NFLDraftBible.com reported earlier Wednesday that the Lions had reached terms on an $80-million pact with Stafford after the front office got owner William Clay Ford to sign off on the deal. The Oakland Press has also reported that the team is close to finalizing a deal with the former Georgia quarterback. Those reports are “absolutely untrue,” Lions team spokesman Bill Keenist said. Meanwhile, Tom Kowalski of Mlive.com and Profootballtalk.com report the Lions have a deal in place with Wake Forest LB Aaron Curry at No. 1 in the draft, if the team ultimately decide to make Curry the first overall pick. ...
