The Facts:
Per a league source, the Cardinals have only $1.29 million in cap room. That's roughly one percent of the total available 2009 payroll of $127 million. So, yeah, they'll need to clear some space if they're going to give Boldin a significant raise.

Earlier this year, Larry Fitzgerald said he's be willing to renegotiate their contract if it meant keeping Boldin (he restated that case on Phoenix radio station KTAR today). Veteran QB Kurt Warner offered to take some money off his contract for the same reason. At the time, however, cap room wasn't an issue. As PFT's Mike Florio suggested, the question was whether the Cardinals wanted to spend the money on Boldin. Now it appears it the cap is an issue. Enough of an issue to force the team's hand in moving Boldin? Stay tuned.
