The Giants had withheld a $1 million payment that had been owed to Burress in December. But he actually earned the signing bonus when he signed his contract in September. Of course, as PFT's Mike Florio points out, none of this changes the fact that Burress
currently has no team, and likely will have a hard time getting anyone to sign him unless and until the current cloud hanging over his head regarding New York weapons charges is resolved in a manner that doesn’t involve a 3 1/2-year prison stay.
