The Facts:
Once the Texans trade Sage Rosenfels to Minnesota for a fourth-round draft choice Friday, they will have to find a replacement. Free agency begins at 12:01 a.m. Friday, and Rosenfels’ replacement will come from a list of QBs who are free agents. Candidates to replace Rosenfels may be Detroit’s Dan Orlovsky, Chicago’s Rex Grossman, Cincinnati’s Ryan Fitzpatrick, Tampa Bay’s Jeff Garcia and Denver’s Patrick Ramsey.

In a perfect world, Matt Schaub will stay healthy and start — and finish — 16 games. Based on what we’ve seen of Schaub in his first two seasons, the odds of that happening are miniscule because he has been out of the lineup four times — three because of injuries and one because of illness. The last time the Texans were in the market for a veteran quarterback during an offseason, they spoke to Garcia and Ramsey. Garcia, however, is going to want a chance to compete for a starting job, something he won't get in Houston.
